Beitbridge border post is a very busy place to be as more than 25 000 people are crossing the Zimbabwe South Africa crossing daily and numbers are expected to increase this week.
Many people based in in South Africa return home this this time to spend Christmas and the New Year holidays with their families.
As the busiest inland port of entry in Sub-Saharan Africa gets busier, officials have doubled their staff in an effort to speed processing and curb congestion.
Zimbabwe border services have also increased the number of clearing points.
The travelling public commended the immigration and customs departments for deploying more staff saying this has ensured expediency in the clearing process.
In December 2015, a total of 291158 travellers were cleared at the border post compared to 2014 ‘s 330152 people handled during the same period.
Many are expected to cross this year.
