Latest News Update on Zimbabwe, Harare demonstrations today

Harare: Zim Police disturbs today’s bond notes protest demo

Zimbabweans have planned to stage massive demonstrations against the introduction of bond notes but there is heavy police patrols in Harare and Bulawayo.

Eye witnesses have seen armed police patrolling known hot spots making it clear that nothing will happen without their interference.

Activists in Tajamuka group supported by Patson Dzamara and Stan Zvorwadza have been mobilising people in the past month to try to get them on against the new money.

ORGANISERS of today’s demonstration say they are ready to confront police brutality, as they take to the streets protesting against the impending introduction of bond notes and rampant corruption in the country.

The demo — dubbed Munhu Wese MuRoad (Everyone to the Streets) — will bring together various social movement groups to protest against the introduction of the surrogate currency reportedly to mitigate the current cash shortages the country is facing.
