ZETDC employees accused of working with thieves to steal copper cables

Residents of Queens Park East in Bulawayo have accused Zimbabwe Electricity, Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) workers of working with thieves in the theft of electricity copper cables.

This comes at the time the country has been trying to come to terms with or adapt to increased loadshedding.

The power utility, Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority has been attributing the loadshedding to faults on its networks primarily due to vandalism and antiquated equipment.

Apparently, tempering with electricity equipment is a serious offence in Zimbabwe that attracts a long prison term.

Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently warned that a law will be promulgated that would see vandals being shot dead on sight.
