The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has warned of longer hours without electricity due to depressed power generation at a time of high demand.
Meanwhile, data by the Zimbabwe Power Company shows that all smaller thermals are down today.
Hwange, which suffers frequent breakdowns, is at about a third of installed capacity.
The country is not able to meet its energy demand and is in talks for an extra 100MW from Mozambique.
Zimbabwe is also in negotiations with ZESCO of Zambia for a deal to import 100MW from Kafue Gorge Lower.
Zimbabwe will have to make prepayments of US$6.3m/ month to ZESCO, according to power utility officials.
