HARARE: The planned demonstration by the Nelson Chamisa led MDC Alliance scheduled for today (Wednesday, 11th of June) over failure by ZEC to avail a comprehensive auditable voters roll and allow political parties to observe ballot printing is on.
Douglas Mwonzora, MDC Secretary General said the peaceful demonstration will go ahead as scheduled.
Said Mwonzora in a statement:
“Tomorrow, the 11th of July 2018 and at 10am we once again embark on a peaceful mass action under the banner of the MDC Alliance.
The two main reasons include the decision by ZEC to refuse political parties the chance to observe the printing of the ballot papers and secondly, ZEC’s failure to avail a copy of the Voters roll as is provided by the law.
MDC-Alliance is expected to be joined by other organisations opposed to Mnangagwa government. Independent candidate and former activist Ivan Mawarire confirmed his participation.
