Call him a blabbermouth, a reckless babbler, a wayward gasbag, or even a Joseph Chinotimba-type of blatherskite (if that really suits your diction), but- whatever derogatory term you may employ to describe his person- Zambian politician and Chinotimba’s namesake, Joseph Kalimbwe, is certainly not a believer of controversial Zimbabwean cleric Passion Java, especially in matters to do with the dreamy pursuit of turning the freefalling economy of the landlocked southern African nation.
A brutal straight talker who is in the habit of using his widely-followed pages on various social networking platforms to spread his personal opinions on topical matters of the day, Kalimbwe got internet users talking on the micro-blogging Twitter platform after the outspoken youthful member of President Hakainde Hichilema’s United Party for National Development (UPND) spewed venom on Java, in a tweet apparently directed at Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The Zimbabwe septuagenarian is understood to have close ties with Passion Java who regularly featured at the ruling Zanu PF political rallies in the run-up to the 26 March local government and parliamentary by-elections resoundingly won by Nelson Chamisa and his main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party.
In an unrestrained attack on the controversy-ridden Zimbabwean cleric, the Zambian writer-turned-politician described Java as someone who is not guided by “intellectual thought”, adding that the motormouth socialite and US-based businessman will ‘only be successful on (social media)’, and not necessarily in important matters to with efforts to resuscitate the economy.
“An Economy which has Java as advisor will never take off“, Kalimbwe posted.
He further tweeted, saying:
“(Such an economy) is not guided by intellectual thought, it will always only be successful on Instagram & Tick Tok !!!”
