World Legends Beat Warriors

HARARE: An exciting exhibition match featuring world legends of the game ended with the local legends losing 5-2 at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon.

The match lived up to its promises to be a thriller with 7 goals being scored.

The match organised by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) in conjunction with the with the world class legends was meant to promote Zimbabwe as a safe destination for tourism and investment.

Guest of honour, President Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived halfway through the match and veteran referee, Lovemore Marange had to bring proceedings to a halt as the President went onto the field of play to meet and greet the players from both sides.

Players from both teams spoke on the match’s significance describing it as a milestone that will pave way for more collaborations in future.

The Warriors got their goals through Lloyd Chitembwe and Charlie Jones.

Some of the former football stars who featured in the world class legends included Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam great, Patrick Kluivert, Julio Baptista, steely Italian defender Gianluca Zambrotta, Albert Luque, Francesco Coco, Spanish midfielder Koke Contreras, Joan Capdevilla, Marcos Senna and Fernando Morientes

Those who featured for the local legends include Agent Sawu, Moses Chunga, Zenso Moyo, Madinda Ndlovu, Ronald Sibanda, Dumisani Mpofu, Kallisto Pasuwa, Stanford Mtizwa and Harlington Shereni.
