A skirt chasing ‘Prophet’ allegedly bashed his pastor and another church member with an ‘anointed’ belt after they had told him off for his womanising behaviour.
‘Prophet’ Amos Chari Mapfumo of the Gilgal Healing Voice and Deliverance Ministries allegedly assaulted pastor Netsai Kufakwavanhu and another congregant, Omega Bere.
The two had visited the prophet’s house to warn him against his ‘wayward’ behavior of making advances even on married women.
The case has since been reported to the Chiredzi Police Station and the victims want prophet Mapfumo to pay them US$750 in damages for assaulting them.
“Prophet Mapfumo got angry after we criticised his behavior of making advances on women as well as the gospel of prosperity which he likes. We were then assaulted with the so-called anointing belt,” said Pastor Kufakwavanhu, adding that she had now dumped the church.
The pastor said they had raised concern with Mapfumo over his behavior which she alleged was allegedly wreaking marriages in the church.
“He encourages women to look for rich husbands whom he calls ‘zvihuta’. This has shaken and broken many marriages as women are no longer satisfied with the husbands they have,” said Kufakwavanhu.
When contacted for comment, Mapfumo said that he had resolved the issue with the women’s husbands.
He also added that he uses his hands to bless people and not to harm them.
