A Shurugwi woman who recently thrashed her in-laws in rapid succession accusing them of harbouring her husband’s concubines has been arraigned before the courts facing two counts of assault.
Shamiso Ruzvidzo (32) of 471 Makusha high density suburb appeared before Shurugwi resident Magistrate Sangster Tavengwa for contravening the section 3 (1) (a) of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.
Prosecuting, Bertha Bore told the court that on the 29th of June 2017 at 471 Makusha, Shamiso Ruzvidzo unlawfully committed an act of domestic violence on Concilia Mdala her mother in-law and witness Manjonjo her sister in-law accusing them of offering accommodation to her husband’s prostitutes.
On the aforementioned day, at around 08:00hrs Ruzvidzo allegedly bashed Witness Manjonjo with clenched fists on the left cheek and lower abdomen, after the incident Manjonjo phoned Mdala who also happens to be her mother in law telling her of the mishap.
When Mdala arrived Ruzvidzo heavily lashed her (mother in-law) with a pot lid on the left hand before wrestling her to the ground.
Ruzvidzo accused both her sister in-law and mother in-law of inciting disharmony in her marriage by taking care of her husband’s lovers.
Magistrate Tavengwa postponed Ruzvidzo’s sentencing to the 10th of July 2017
