Woman attacked and killed by swam of bees

MASVINGO-A Renco woman died on Wednesday last week after she was stung by a swarm of bees while trying to rescue her two-year-old grandson from the bees.
Blessing Gono (45) of Tsetse Village, Masekesa Siphone 5 under Chief Nyajena died upon arrival at Chisase Clinic while her grandson received treatment and survived.
Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident that happened around 12 pm.
Dhewa said Gono was tilling her fields while her grandson was seated under a tree. The grandson was attacked by a swarm of bees and he ran towards her crying.
Gono carried the child and ran towards nearby homes shouting for help as the swarm was attacking her. She fell down and nearby villagers warded off the bees and rushed the two to Chisase Clinic.
Gono died upon reaching the clinic’s gate and the boy got medical attention.
