We are penetrating the rural areas, says MDC Alliance

The opposition MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa has claimed that it is making inroads in the rural areas- a positive move in the sense that it is the rural vote which decides on who should be the occupants of positions of national leadership in Zimbabwe.

Perhaps, the opposition has paid attention to the last census conducted in 2012, which set the figure of Zimbabweans living in rural areas at 67%- testimony to the importance of the rural voter in national elections.

As a result, the MDC-A, perennially out-balloted by the ruling Zanu PF in rural areas, now claims that it has renewed it’s Rural Mobilisation Strategy and yesterday, they were in Murehwa.

“The MDC Alliance is penetrating more rural areas in line with its renewed Rural Mobilization Strategy. Today, there was a vibrant CCC meeting in Murehwa West. Political power lies in the people!” the party said, while signing off with the trademark #ZanupfMustGo.

Birthed during the dawn of the 21st century, the then labor-backed MDC then under the leadership of the late Morgan Tsvangirai, has been popular in the urban areas with the long-ruling Zanu PF enjoying dominance in the rural communities.
