Local internet users on, especially the micro-blogging social networking platform, Twitter, have lashed out at the country’s policing authorities after a rather depressing video clip of an officer dragging a white-bearded senior Zimbabwean citizen by the collar went viral on social media.
Quite a remarkable number of local ‘netizens’ condemned the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), saying the clip smacks of appalling policing malpractices and deficiency of Ubuntu by members of the force.
Others shouldered the blame on Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ruling Zanu PF party for ‘Zanutising’ the once revered ZRP, resulting in downright dereliction of duty by officers deployed to maintain peace and order in the troubled southern African country.
