All roads are leading to Zimbabwe’s National Heroes Acre in Harare where Vivian Mwashita and Victoria Chitepo will be laid to rest by President Robert Mugabe today.
Chitepo and Mwashita died on Friday last week and will make history as they will be laid to rest side by side on the same day at the same time.
The two also belong to the Manicaland Province of Zanu PF.
About 50 buses mostly from Harare and Manicaland will ferry mourners to the national shrine.
Large numbers are expected due to this rare situation in which two people are buried on the same day at the same time.
Their bodies will be taken to Mbare’s Stordard Hall at 8 o’clock in the morning tomorrow before burial at the National Heroes Acre.
The two deaths will bring together rival factions(G40 and Team Lacoste) involved in a bitter struggle to succeed President Mugabe when he leaves power in the near future.
Mugabe is expected to address and talk about the damage done to Zanu PF by factional and succession wars.
We will give you updates, pictures and President Mugabe’s speech from the burial site.
