This is a straight hit…fans react to AKA incident video

An alleged CCTV footage of the moment rapper AKA was gunned down has leaked and broken people’s hearts.

AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes, was shot dead on 10 February just after 10 pm as he was leaving a restaurant and going to Yugo Durban for his birthday celebration. His close friend Tebello Motsoane was also shot during the incident, according to reports.

AKA’s death has choked the country with sadness, and his shocking demise has attracted the attention of international media outlets like the New York Times, BBC, and The Guardian UK.

A CCTV footage from Wish On Florida restaurant has leaked on Twitter, sending shivers down South Africans’ spines.

The rapper shared videos on his Instagram Story at the restaurant, enjoying seafood with former Dream Team member Lusasa “Saso” Ngcobo, DJ and producer Benny Maverick among other friends.

As he finishes eating, the CCTV footage shows the group going outside so they can disperse, and AKA goes to Yugo for his performance.

The rapper then hugged his friends in farewell. AKA then hugged one who was wearing a bucket hat, and he held him for a long time before letting go.

As he was about to stretch his arm to shake and hug another friend, a gunman wearing a white sweater and a hat emerged on the scene, walking towards and pointing a gun at AKA.

Tragic balcony death of rapper AKA’s fiancée just two years before his violent murder

Rapper AKA, real named Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, died just two years after his fiancée tragically passed away.

Anele ‘Nelli’ Tembe died in April 2021, when she fell from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town.

The aspiring chef was thought to be accompanying her boyfriend to a gig in the city.

Fourth months after her death, AKA took to his Instagram to say: “4 months to this day.… it never goes away. Everyday I pray for her, myself and our families. I will never be the same person I was … but I will do the best I can with the gift and opportunity of life that I still have left.

AKA shot dead in Durban: What happened

Another person believed to be AKA’s bodyguard, was also wounded, while another unidentified person, who is understood to be a close friend of AKA, has been shot dead.
Earlier, before provincial police confirmed the incident, IOL had independently confirmed details of the shooting from well-placed police sources, who could not be named as they are not permitted to speak to the media.

Later, police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed police were investigating two murder cases and they were yet to establish the motives for the murders.
