Victoria Chitepo to be buried by Mugabe at National Heroes Acre this week

The late national heroine cde Victoria Fikile Chitepo will be buried at the National Heroes Acre on Wednesday.

The National shrine is also the burial of her late husband Hebert Chitepo

This was revealed to ZBC News by Zanu PF Secretary for Administration Dr Ignatius Chombo.

Her body will be taken to the Chitepo rural home on Monday at Bonda Mission where it will lie in state.

On Tuesday, the body will then be brought back for Wednesday’s burial at the national shrine.

Chitepo(88) was found dead in family house on Friday morning by her daughter.

The widow of the late Zanu chairperson held several government positions after independence.

At independence she was Deputy Minister of Education and Culture before serving as Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism.

She later served as Minister for Information, Post and Telecommunications and also as Minister of Local Government among many other portfolios.

Chitepo’s death came at the same time as other high profile deaths in the part including Vivian Mwashita who died in the same week as well as Chinhamo Chinamano who was found dead in a Harare trench on saturday.

Early this month a Zanu PF MP was found dead in a Harare hotel.
