Vendor cornered by robbers while in toilet

A Marondera sweet potato vendor recently lost at least $ 100 to robbers while he was responding to the call of nature in a toilet at Dombotombo Shopping Centre.

Provincial Police spokesperson confirmed the incident which occurred on May 10.

It is reported that Damison Mugunda (49) of Rujeko Surbub in Marondera was selling some sweet potatoes around 1500 hrs at Tandarai Beer hall.

Mugunda was later approached by two people who appeared to be potential customers.

They instructed the complainant to reserve sweet potatoes for him indicating that they would collect them after a beer drink at Tandarai Cocktail bar.

After an hour, Mugunda went to Tandarai public toilets to relieve himself when the accused persons allegedly followed him and one of them allegedly pointed at the complainant with an unknown object whilst the other searched him and took $112 before fleeing the scene.

Mugunda followed the thugs from a distance and saw them entering into a white Honda Fit vehicle whose registration, he failed to take.

A report was made to the nearby police station and nothing has been recovered so far.
