LATEST NEWS: BeitBridge border post to be closed shut next week by protesters

Beitbridge Border Post Shut Down Next Week

Riots, Protests, Demonstrations next week at Beitbridge Border Crossing if Zim government does not listen to cross border traders!

Zimbabwe asked to lift imports ban or face riots

Beitbridge Border Crossing, Zimbabwe and South Africa’s busiest border post will witness more riots and demonstrations if there is no resolution to imports ban regulations.

The International Cross Border Traders Association in conjunction with Tajamuka protest movement are planning another 2 way mega demo next week that will affect traffic from Zimbabwe and South Africa at the troubled border post.

The 2 organisations have already given president Mugabe’s government a 1 week strict ultimatum.

The association, with over 15,000 members, said it would give Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe’s government a week to lift a ban on certain imports.

“We are only giving them one week and after one week we are going to close Beitbridge border post because it is the busiest border in Zimbabwe. We are going to ask Tajamuka and other organisations to help us when we are protesting,” said Dennis Juru, Cross Borders Association leader.

Juru added their members would be out in full force next week if their demands are not met.

Meanwhile, a Zimbabwe Revenue Authourity worker based at BeitBridge border(name withheld) told zwnews.com reporters that they are aware of the impending protests but did not want to discuss the issue further fearing that it might influence others to join in.
