It has been revealed that First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa and her son Emmerson Junior may appear in the upcoming episodes of Al Jazeera’s “Gold Mafia” documentary, as stated by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Ambassador At Large Uebert Angel in a statement released on Saturday.
This comes after Angel was shown in the first episode of the documentary attempting to launder US$1.2 billion and claiming to be the second-most-powerful person in Zimbabwe.
In his defense, Angel’s office stated that he suspected the undercover journalists and used “decoys” during his interactions with them, including decoys posing as Henrietta Rushwaya, the First Lady, and the First Son.
Angel’s calls to these decoys were made due to leading questions asked by the “investors” who were pushing to have the First Family in the discussion.
However, it was emphasized that Ambassador Angel could not have met the First Lady and First Son without pre-arrangements and standard security clearance procedures in place.
It was also stated that the “investors” never got the chance to film the President or the First Lady because the Ambassador was already informed by security agents prior to the meeting that they did not have the money they claimed to have.
