Minister of Industry & Commerce, Sithembiso Nyoni has warned foreign nationals operating tuck shops in Harare’s downtown area to follow the country’s laws.
Nyoni who is touring tuck shops in downtown Harare in a move she described as her ministry’s efforts to assess & restore sanity in the local retail supply chain said tuck shops are reserved for Zimbabweans.
Speaking during the tour, Nyoni said she was there to enforce the country’s laws:
“Retail is a sector reserved for Zimbabweans. We are here to implement the laws of Zimbabwe.”
She warned foreign nationals illegally operating tuck shops in downtown Harare CBD to abide by the country’s laws.
She also demanded to see licenses, tax clearance & swipe machines for rtgs transactions from wholesalers.
