Tsvangirai Memorial Not A Political Event…Family Bans Party Regalia

The family of the late MDC founding leader Morgan Tsvangirai has banned party regalia at the memorial service slated for this Saturday in Humanikwa village, Buhera.

Family spokesperson Manase Tsvangirai told a local online media organisation NewZimbabwe.com that the decision to ban party regalia was necessitated by the feeling that Tsvangirai was a unifier who also worked with those he did not agree with.

“This is not a political event, but a memorial service for a politician who dedicated his life to bring democratic change in the country.

“Everyone is invited, we are not leaving anyone from across the political divide,” Manase was quoted.

“The other thing we would like to highlight is that, we hope and believe that people who are coming to this memorial, should not be seen wearing any political parties’ regalia. Instead, we expect people to be wearing the regalia of the late Morgan Tsvangirai,” added Manase.

The late MDC leader succumbed to cancer of the colon in February last year and was buried at his rural home in Humanikwa village Buhera.
