Tragic episodes of painful drama recently unfolded in Mandava high-density suburb where dogs made a meal out of a newly born baby dumped by a Zvishavane bar lady.
Taurai Shiri (36) who is employed at the popular Elephant Bar in Mandava appeared before Zvishavane Magistrate Shephard Mjanja for dumping a newly born baby.
Prosecuting, Tinashe Maponde told the court that, On June 27 this year at 11pm, the accused who was seven months pregnant allegedly had a stillbirth at the Bar. In a bid to conceal the birth she wrapped the baby and disposed of it in a bushy area.
The offense came to light when dogs were found eating the body of the child and investigations were conducted leading to the arrest of the accused.
Shiri was charged with concealing the birth of a child.
She was found guilty as charged and is now awaiting sentence as she has gone for community service assessment.
