Evan Mawarire flies back to America

HARARE: The High Court on Wednesday released #Thisflag social movement leader Pastor Evan Mawarire’s passport and allowed him to fly to the United States to see his family.

Mawarire had applied for his passport to the High court through his lawyer Harrison Nkomo of Mhishi Nkomo Legal Practice after the cleric received information about the illness of one of his children in America.

The application was heard and granted by Justice Priscilla Chigumba who is the cleric’s presiding judge in the case in which Mawarire is facing charges of trying to subvert a constitutionally elected government.

These charges emanated from his videos he posted on social media last year in July which were encouraging citizens to peacefully demonstrate against the government.
