H-metro reports that troubled Zimbabwean singer, Tererai Mugwadi, was on Saturday arrested for allegedly bashing ZRP police officers, after she was involved in a road traffic accident.
Mugwadi was reported to have also used unprintable words to insult the officers.
She was detained at Rhodesville Police Station.
One of the eye witnesses told H-Metro the songbird was a nuisance when she was arrested.
“Mugwadi was possibly drunk when she got involved in a road traffic accident.
“Akatukirira mapurisa akauya pascene nemashoko ezvinyadzi ndokuzorova mumwe mupurisa wechidzimai,” said the witness.
Harare provincial deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Webster Dzvova, confirmed the arrest saying the musician is facing disorderly conduct charges.
“Tererai Mugwadi was involved in a road traffic accident around 11pm on Saturday,” said Ass Insp Dzvova.
“Police traffic officers attended the scene and during the recording of statements Tererai was reported to have verbally assaulted the officers using obscene language.
“She was later arrested and detained at around 2am on Sunday and is facing disorderly conduct charges,” he said.
In 2018, Mugwadi was found guilt of culpable homicide and fined after she was involved in an accident which claimed the life of Seremani Marvellous.
The forgotten urban grooves singer made headlines in 2018 after a bedroom video of her and an unidentified man leaked.
The tape went viral.
In an interview following the leak, Mugwadi said she was in state of shock and was confused on how the video got into the public domain.
“I have no idea on how the video leaked and a lot of people have been calling me both friends and relatives.
“I am, however, working on this to put my house in order” said Mugwadi.
