Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema yesterday had meetings with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington DC, USA.
Hichilema who inherited a broke economy is looking for financial support to kickstart the country’s economic trajectory.
During these meetings, Hichilema maintained that the fight against corruption would be central in his approach.
He said all stolen state funds will be recovered without victimising anyone.
Meanwhile, Norton independent Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa praised Zambian democracy, saying it unlockes financial opportunities.
“This is a master-stroke in diplomatic ties for Zambia.
“When a country is democratic you get access to financial support.
“The US is looking for a democratic model to support& Zambia appears to be a competent model for them.
“It’s a practical reality that US support is critical,” he said.
