Teachers speak on new exam fees

The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) has commented on the new exam fees announced by the Zimbabwe School Examination Council yesterday.

The rural teachers’ body says the fees are a clear indication that the government doesn’t want children to write exams, as many will not afford.

“The decision has been made. The sons & daughters of the masses will not be eligible to sit for public examinations this year.

“In 2021 over 50% failed to write & more will be affected this year. The fees are pegged in USD but gvt refuses to pay workers in USD,” noted ARTUZ.
