The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) has declared end of first term saying teachers can’t continue working for nothing.
The teachers’ body says after receiving their ‘paltry’ salaries today (yesterday) it has become clear that Finance Minister
Mthuli Ncube & Education Minister Paul Mavima ignored their demands & punched the February slave wages.
“Trs received their paltry salaries today. @MthuliNcube & @ProfPMavima ignored our demands & punched the February slave wages. Trs have given up.
“Today marks the end of first term. No teaching will be conducted until salaries are reviewed #Teachers4USD, @MutasaPeter, @DrivenChapman.”
Apparently, reports are that the government has given members of the country’s security sector a 400% pay rise, as it fears revolt ahead of elections.
Over the years, teachers have complained that members of the country’s security sector have been given preferential treatment.
