HARARE…..Key issues affecting education and teachers’ concerns will be discussed and debated on at ZIMTA’s 38th Annual National Conference which has started in Harare, today 29 April 2019.
The conference is expected to set the tone for activities that will run throughout the remainder of 2019.
Coming hard on the heals of a hyper inflationary
environment, the Union’s conference is meant to give direction as to how educators should react to their changing environment whilst consolidating the gains and milestones achieved to date . Conference will also seek to find new ways of re-engagement, or dialogue in an endeavor to bring to a close the outstanding labour issues, specifically for the teaching profession.
Teacher representatives from Zimbabwe ‘s ten provinces shall present their recommendations to conference, where the same would be scrutinized before adoption.
ZIMTA’s 38th Annual National Conference will this year run under the theme, “ Qualitative Dimensions of the Teaching Profession in Zimbabwe, unmet Expectations , Challenges and opportunities towards 2030”.
At least 300 delegates have confirmed their attendance. Among the confirmed delegates will be government officials, friends of ZIMTA, regional and international guests with a huge influence in matters involving teachers’ welfare, conditions of service, professionalism issues and the road to attaining quality education as the world moves towards agenda 2030
