SOON: Mnangagwa on Zimbabwe 2023 election dates

President Mnangagwa hinted that election dates would be announced soon, but emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and shunning violence during the election campaign.

Speaking at the national field day in Kwekwe, the President urged Zimbabweans to prioritize their unity as one people, regardless of their political affiliation, in order to ensure peace before, during, and after the elections.

President Mnangagwa encouraged Zimbabweans to love their neighbors and uphold unity, emphasizing that violence is alien to the country’s peaceful nature. He urged Zimbabweans to be proud of their country and to build it up rather than destroying it.

He acknowledged that opposition elements were normal in any society, but expressed confidence in the Second Republic’s ability to circumvent any attempts at regime change.

The President also spoke about the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West, which were intended to cause disharmony among the people and bring about regime change. However, he expressed confidence that the Second Republic had managed to overcome these sanctions and establish good relations with countries around the world.

Vice President Dr. Constantino Chiwenga echoed President Mnangagwa’s call for peace and urged Zimbabweans to uphold peace as the country heads towards harmonized elections in a few months.
