Two machete wielding Shurugwi men are set to appear in court after they attacked a fellow patron at a local night spot, resulting in the victim losing a finger, Midlands provincial police spokesperson Assistant inspector Ethel Mukwende has confirmed.
The duo, Joseph Maseko and Renford Maresa who reside in Makusha in Shurugwi were arrested on the 29th of May at Danny Night Club in Shurugwi after they assaulted Shima Gwasarira, who was having a drink at the night spot.
It is alleged that the two approached Gwasarira and allegedly took his beer. Gwasarira then protested and in the process an altercation arose and Maseko produced a knife and stabbed Gwasarira once on the chest. Prince Ndhlovu who was in the company of the two and is still at large also stabbed Gwasarira once in the neck with the knife.
Maresa then produced a machete intending to strike Gwasarira but he blocked it with his right hand resulting in his middle finger being cut off.
Police later arrived at the scene and arrested Maseko and Maresa who are set to appear in court soon.
Gwasarira was referred to Shurugwi District Hospital for medication after sustaining injuries to the chest, neck and right hand
