A Seventh-Day Adventist youth camping ended in tragedy after one of the youths drowned while swimming with others in a farm dam in Marondera.
Providence Bvumbamera (21) drowned in the dam in full glare of other church-mates who failed to rescue him.
Efforts to get a comment from Mashonaland East Province acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza were fruitless yesterday.
However, ZBC News is reliably informed that on April 23, Bvumbamera of Rusike High Density Suburb in Marondera was at a church camp at Cotter Farm in Marondera when his life tragically ended.
On the fateful day at around 0630 hours the now deceased and two other youth church members Kudzaishe Mucheni (15) and Munashe Muchanya (18) went to Cotter farm dam to bath when they decided to swim.
It is reported that while swimming Bvumbamera suddenly drowned and efforts to rescue him by his church-mates youths were in vain.
Mucheni then rushed to the camp and informed his church leader Maxwell Wanyekwa who in turn reported the matter to Marondera Rural Police.
The police Sub-Aqua Unit retrieved the body before conveying it to Marondera Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem.
