Senior gvt officials on corruption charges threaten whistleblowers, says ZACC boss

Some senior govt officials facing corruption charges are allegedly victimising whistleblowers & their subordinates to stop them from testifying, Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) boss Loyce Moyo has said.

ZACC has been unrelenting in lobbying for a robust whistleblower protection law.

Meanwhile, ZACC which is an independent commission created to combat corruption and crime has been accused of not doing much in the fight against graft.

Critics have complained that the body has been reluctant in investigating high profile people, especially senior government officials.

They alleged that ZACC chases those accused of petty offences as long as they are not politically connected.

The anti graft body says to date, it has referred at least 300 cases to the National Prosecuting Authority for prosecution, including several high profile cases.
