SA singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka arrested, deported from Uganda ..POLICE VIDEO

KAMPALA: South African music legend Yvonne Chaka Chaka has been arrested and deported out of Uganda over a visa issue.

The legendary South African artiste arrived in the country on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s performance at the Buganda Kingdom’s Enkuuka Y’Omwaka.

But police spokesman Fred Enanga said Chaka Chaka had entered the country on an ordinary visa of a visitor yet she had come to perform and required a special visa.

Mr Enanga said as a result, the Immigration Department has cancelled her temporary visa.

Uganda security officials reportedly detained the singer, escorted her to Entebbe Airport and put her on the immediate plane back to South Africa via Kigali, Rwanda.

Sources are reporting that the Mzansi singer might have angered the despotic regime of  Uganda’s controversial dictactor President Yoweri Museveni after she praised the People Power movement leader Robert Kyagulanyi, aka, Bobi Wine.

While in Kampala last year, Chaka Chaka referred to opposition activist Bobi Wine as Uganda’s Nelson Mandela.

Earlier it was reported that Chaka Chaka has been kidnapped by Ugandan security forces but police have confirmed that she is safe and on her way to Mzansi.

See some of the twits about the situation:

  1. So the police told Yvone Chaka Chaka not to perform her songs of freedom or mention anywhere, Bobiwines name at enkuuka. She declined such orders and as we speak she’s being deported back. Happy new year, Uganda police.
  2. Yvonne Chaka Chaka – Princess of Africa has been kidnapped in Uganda by security agencies (ISO) after refusing their orders of not singing her freedom song and talk about Bobi Wine in Nkuuka music show.
