President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is in Epworth, Harare for the official opening of the Epworth Magistrates Court.
The new court is part of Government’s broader goal of bringing courts closer to the people, for the efficient administration of justice.
The Epworth Magistrates Court will handle both criminal and civil matters.
The main building of the Epworth complex will house two courtrooms for two magistrates courts, as well as eight offices and ablution facilities.
Since the court will handle criminal cases, holding cells have been constructed to meet Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services specifications, with separate sections for men, women and juveniles.
Earlier on, Mnangagwa chaired the resource mobilisation meeting for the tropical cyclone Freddy disaster victims in Malawi, at State House.
This is in response to the international appeal for assistance that was launched by Malawian President, Lazarus Chakwera.
