President Mnangagwa heeds Selmor Mtukudzi’s call

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has given artists a greenlight to resume live shows.

The artists were given the go-ahead to resume shows on condition that they do not exceed the stipulated 50 people.

He was speaking at an event which saw deputy minister Tino Machakaire
fulfilling his pledge of buying equipment for Chief Hwenje and Andy Muridzo.

Machakaire pledged to provide equipment to Andy at an event organised by the ZANU PF youth league in Kadoma while he pledged to chief Hwenje at the ZANU PF 18th peoples conference in Goromonzi.

Meanwhile, his move came few days after renowned artist and daughter to late musical legend Oliver Mtukudzi, Selmor Mtukudzi had implored Mnangagwa to take action so that artists won’t become destitute in their own land.

Selmor who had returned from South Africa bemoaned the prevailing situation in Zimbabwe and called on the President to take action.

“This is the 1st time in the years I’ve been performing outside Zimbabwe that I have felt sad to be coming back home.

“Plz Mr President @edmnangagwa don’t let us artists be destitute in our own land.

“Let’s copy what SA is doing and allow us 2 work for our families. Yours sincerely a proud Zimbabwe,” Selmor posted on her official Twitter handle.
