President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officially open the 8th Ordinary Meeting of the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA) Committee of Experts and Council of Ministers in Victoria Falls today.

The Association is intergovernmental & seeks to strengthen influence African diamond producing countries have on the world diamond market.

It implements policies, strategies and laws to assist the generation of diamond profits from foreign diamond mining companies to its members.

Diamond is one of Zimbabwe’s major foreign currency earners.

However, it has not been spared by smugglers who are believed to be politically connected.

Few years ago, the country lost about US$15 billion to smugglers. The late former Zimbabwean strongman Robert Mugabe confirmed the loss.
