Pretoria Portland Cement (PPC) Zimbabwe has unveiled a US$40 million solar power investment for its Bulawayo and Colleen Bawn plants.
This is expected to boost the firm’s energy requirements and help reduce supply gap in the country as excess will be fed onto the National Grid.
Zimbabwe is currently struggling to produce enough power to meet local demand.
This situation has seen the country importing Electricity from South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia.
The national power utility has been using loadshedding in at attempt to manage the situation.
Apparently, faults and vandalism has affected energy availability in Zimbabwe.
