Polygamist brutally attacks pregnant wife

A 35 year old polygamist from Mtapa High Density Suburb appeared in court for kicking his pregnant wife in the abdomen causing her to suffer a miscarriage.

Wedzerai Chiningwa appeared before Magistrate Phatikile Msipa facing domestic violence charges and was remanded to 17 July 2017 for trial.

Prosecuting Helen Khosa said on June 7, 2017 Chaningwa phoned his wife Memory Changa so that they could meet at Mambo Bus Stop.

When they met, Chiningwa told Changa that he wanted to take their three minor children since he was now staying with his other wife

“The two had a misunderstanding and Chiningwa kicked Changa in the abdomen,” said Khosa.

The court heard that Changa started bleeding from her private parts and mouth.

She reported the matter to the police and she was referred to Gweru General Hospital.

It was established that she suffered a miscarriage and the doctor stated that it was due to the assault.

Chiningwa pleaded guilty and said his wife talks too much and is always provoking him.
