Police officers attacked, forced to release suspects, exhibits

Police in Harare are investigating circumstances surrounding a case of assault on members of the ZRP and defeating course of justice.

The incident occurred on 19th January 2021 in Mufakose where 2 members of the CID Drugs and Narcotics were on duty.

The officers arrested 2 suspects for possession and dealing in dagga then 11 suspects emerged, forced the officers to release the arrested suspects & exhibits.

They attacked one of the police officers with an iron bar.

The police has since urged members of the public to adore the rule of law and refrain from disturbing the law enforcement officers on their constitutional mandate.

In another unrelated incident, on 18/01/21 at about 0100 hrs, 9 unknown suspects who were armed with unknown pistols & iron bars attacked a security guard at a business complex in Msasa where they broke into various shops & stole cash amounting to USD 27 523 & various property valued at about USD 290.

Investigations are currently underway.
