Police Constable teams up with armed thugs to rob Belvedere home

A Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer, Constable Walter Chanhuwa, who was already on suspension for unlawful possession of a pangolin, has been implicated in an armed robbery case that occurred in Belvedere, Harare, in late February.

ZRP disclosed that they arrested four suspects, Harry Dzingwe, Tongai Chikumba, Walter Chanhuwa, and Egypt Musundire, who were armed with an unidentified pistol and iron bars and had allegedly attacked a house in Belvedere.

The suspects stole cash and property valued at US$7,500 and 5,000 Rupees.

The arrests followed investigations by ZRP CID Homicide, which led to the apprehension of three of the suspects, who later implicated Constable Chanhuwa.

The four suspects have been remanded in custody until April 25, 2023, after appearing before the Harare Magistrate Court.
