Zimbabwe’s platinum production was 3 823 kgs in the first quarter of 2022, 13% up from 3,369kg in the same period last year, reports Zim Economic Review.
Palladium production was 3 192kg in the first quarter of 2022 compared to 2 824kg for the same period the previous year.
Meanwhile, the country’s platinum miners have entered into a special arrangement with Zesa where the mines prepay the power utility’s offshore creditors in exchange for guaranteed & uninterrupted electricity supply.
This deal will see platinum producers boosting the mineral’s output by a greater margin.
