President Mugabe survives Harare ‘motorcade-kombi crash’ accident

President Robert Mugabe and his convoy were lucky on Friday last week as they survived head on collision with a speeding Kombi commuter in Harare last week.

An unlicensed and uninsured driver ignored police sirens and crashed head on with a motorbike in Mugabe’s security entourage.

The accident happened last Friday  at Julius Nyerere Way and Kenneth Kaunda Avenue when Mugabe was on his way to Harare Airport en route to Papua New Guinea for the ACP meeting.

A 25 year old man Chucks Mazanza from Chitungwiza has appeared before a Harare court where he pleaded guilty to five counts of dangerous driving.

Mazanza nearly killed Munyaradzi Marimo who was on State motorcade escort duties and was sounding a siren few meters from Mugabe at the time of the accident.

Marimo was injured by the crash impact and taken to hospital where he was discharged later.

After the accident Mazanza did not stop but sped off to Chitungwiza.

He was then taken into custody following a manhunt by Harare police.

We will publish accident photos and images as soon as we get them.
