Picture: Zim Chief axed over a 100-year-old tree

Chief Makope, Jacob Mapirinjanja, of Mvurwi, Mashonaland Central, escaped death by a whisker after he was attacked by an axe wielding lunatic whom he told off for cutting a tree believed to be 100 years old.

The incident happened on Friday last week.

He was attacked by a 24-year-old man identified as Belington Nyamadzawo after he asked him why he was cutting down a very important tree believed to be 100-year-old.

The  Chief said he was seriously injured in the attack and had to be treated at Mvurwi hospital.
