Philip Chiyangwa is new COSAFA football president, targets CAF post

Zimbabwe Fooball Association boss Doctor Philip Chiyangwa is the new Council for Southern Africa Football Association(COSAFA) president.

The self styled king of selfies was elected unopposed after South Africa’s Danny Jordaan and the current president Suketu Patel pulled out of the race.

Chiyangwa was confident of winning the election even though most football pundits believed it was a contest between Jordaan and Patel.

After getting the post rumours began to spread that businessman Chiyangwa is not satisfied with being a COSAFA boss and ending there, he has his sites on Cairo and is hopping that kone day he will end up somewhere in the higher offices of Africa’s elite football governing body.

Mnay people believe that Chiyangwa’s easy going personality and business background makes it possible to gel and cut into football administration.

Zimbabwe’s longest serving Zifa boss Leo Mugabe tried many times and failed to rise above the local body as he could not get any post for either COSAFA or CAF during his tenure.
