MAPINGA: 10 people killed in Harare-Nyamapanda road accident

Fatal accident  along the Harare-Nyamapanda highway.

Ten people were killed while one was seriously injured late last night in a road traffic accident involving a commuter omnibus and a haulage truck at Mapinga Great Dyke pass   along the Harare-Chirundu highway.

The accident occurred after the haulage truck and the commuter omnibus collided head on.

All the deceased and the injured passengers were aboard the commuter omnibus.

Police said the omnibus which was heading towards Chinhoyi encroached onto the lane of an oncoming haulage truck resulting in the head on collision.

Five of the deceased were family members; the owner of the omnibus, his wife and their three children.

The injured passenger was taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital.
