Chaos after 400 pupils are initiated into satanism by Nyanyadzi School teachers

Learning at Nyanyadzi High School in Chimanimani district was disrupted this Monday morning when angry parents stormed the school premises in protest over allegations that 400 pupils had been initiated into Satanism.

Angry parents barricaded the school with stones baying for the blood of four teachers who are alleged to have initiated the pupils into the practice.

Pupils also joined in solidarity, demanding the immediate resignation of the teachers.

Parents who attended Headman Gudyanga’s traditional court over the weekend narrated how the Satanism issue came to the fore, as one Mrs Rwizi believed to be the ring leader allegedly initiated pupils through offering them ice creams, biscuits, samusas, among a host of other food items.

The parents vowed that no learning will take place until the four alleged teachers are removes from the school.

Headman Gudyanga said what prompted the parents to invade the school premises was the reluctant by the four suspects to appear before the traditional court.

Classes came to standstill and riot police had to be called in to bring order.

Information gathered by the police indicates that out of the 400 pupils alleged to have been initiated into Satanism at Nyanyadzi high school, only two were boys. zbc
