Nigeria tops the group with 6 points, Colombia is second with 5 points, Japan was eliminated with 4 points. Sweden finished bottom with 1 point
Nigeria under 23 Super Eagles will play against Colombia in at Rio Brazil 2016 Olympics.
The Nigerian coach is expected to introduce new players as a number of the others will be rested for the knockout phase of the tournament.
Having prevailed against a spirited Japan and in their last match between the African side and Sweden, Nigeria is expected to score more goals in their match versus Colombia in order to finish at the top of the competition.
Today’s match will be played at 11PM Nigerian Time.
Speaking ahead of the match, Nigerian coach Samson Siasia expressed satisfaction with what his team has done so far:
“I had to take this decision to rest some players because we have qualified for the quarter finals as group leaders, and secondly I need to rest some of the starters because in the next phase there is a possibility of going into extra time,” he said.
On the other end, Colombia will play with a full strength squad as they try to overcome the effect of points dropped in their first two matches that finished with draws vs Sweden and Japan.
