EX-COP Jaison Muvhevhi was back in court yesterday for routine remand in the matter he is accused of shooting to death three people.
Muvhevhi was remanded to February 20 for routine remand pending indictment for trial at the High Court.
The gold dealer is said to have gone on a shooting spree last month in Wedza, leaving three people dead in his wake, including the officer-in-charge.
Another policeman, who was injured in the shooting, is currently battling for his life in hospital.
It is alleged Muvhevhi arrived at Chrispen Kanerusine’s shrine while in the company of one Shupikai Muvhevhi.
He was dressed in all black against the church’s doctrine and was given a white cloth to cover himself.
The court was further told the ex-cop sat with other worshipers as Kanerusine delivered his sermon.
It is further alleged that Muvhevhi suddenly went to his vehicle which was parked close to the shrine and came back with an FN browning pistol which he used to shoot the preacher once in the head.
Further allegations are that the officer-in-charge of Wedza Police Station, Inspector Maxwell Hove, assembled a response team and went to the shrine to conduct an investigation.
They met Muvhevhi along the Wedza-Murambinda highway and blocked his vehicle intending to confront him, but he started firing at them, hitting Hove three times in the head and died on the spot.
He also shot Constable Tendai Mugova in the stomach and pelvis.
Allegations are that Muvhevhi made a U-turn and drove to the business centre where he shot and killed Munashe Munjani after a brief chat with him.
On January 14, Muvhevhi allegedly went to Mutare Boys High School where he fired three shots, but missed the second complainant who had refused to give him food.
Muvhevhi then skipped the border and was arrested when he tried to cross into Mozambique.
