Mnangagwa announces special court for corrupt ZanuPF officials

A special court to handle Zimbabwe corruption

Acting head of state Emmerson Mnangagwa has revealed that Zimbabwe government will soon have a special court for the management and prosecution of corruption related cases.

The Vice President has been named as the main force behind recent  investigations on young ministers, Saviour Kasukuwere and Jonathan Moyo, who allegedly misused public resources for personal benefit.

According to statements from various people in Zanu PF, some named individuals in government have robbed the nation of resources worth billions in secret diamond deals, Hwange ivory trade, tenders and the sale of prime state land in urban areas.

Mnangagwa was speaking in Mvuma during the official opening of Mvuma Magistrates Court.

Speaking to journalists, the acting President said it is only when people accept the reality of the scourge of corruption and the willingness to openly tackle it that the country stands a better chance of winning the battle against the social vice.

He said government is ready to support any initiative to fight corruption and concerted efforts are required in all sectors of the economy to deal with the scourge which has become the biggest threat to socio-economic development in the country.

Meanwhile, the people of Mvuma have welcomed the new court.

Before the construction of the new court house, Mvuma was being run as a circuit court from Gweru with a magistrate going there once a week despite the high number of both civil and criminal cases which needed trying.
