Mzansi heartbroken as Kairo Forbes shares emotional audio to dad AKA weeks after his death

South Africans have been left heartbroken after Kairo Forbes shared an emotional audio to her dad, AKA, weeks after his death.

AKA, known as Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, passed away on 10 February after he was gunned down with his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane. He was leaving Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban when two unknown assailants fired the fatal shots.

He was buried on 18 February.

His daughter Kairo has shared an emotional audio on her Instagram account, paying tribute to her dad for the first time since his tragic passing. The page is managed by her grandmother Lynn Forbes.

The emotional audio is included in a slide show of cute pictures of AKA and Kairo from the day she was born. Kairo posted pictures of AKA in the maternity room and another of when she was lying on his chest as a baby.

On some days, AKA would fix Kairo’s hair, and the father and daughter were so close that at one point, they were both on the cover of Forbes Africa magazine. In another slideshow picture, the two “best friends” were doing dance challenges.

In the background, the 7-year-old child celeb said:

“I love him. And..hmm, he was a good dad, and I love him. Daddy, I want to say something. Thank you, and I love you.”

The bittersweet video of Kairo and AKA left social media users teary on Instagram.

@mary_memzzy:

“He was…” ?????? I pray for this family almost every day. I had never prayed for strangers until now. Only God can heal this kind of grief ?️.”

@wilmer_royale:

“I never met my dad. I was around 6 months old when he passed… but God has been faithful. Sometimes you wish otherwise, sometimes you cry, and most times I wanna make him proud. A very challenging pain to deal with, but God that allows it will always give strength. I’m so sorry, baby girl. He’s your angel.”

@tashizzzles1:

“Man, this breaks my heart. I love you Kairo without meeting you, I keep you in my thoughts and conversations baby girl. I lost my father at the age of 17. I’m now 27, but I still miss him and cry for him. I’m so broken by your loss.”
