Muzarabani Councilors ‘sacrifice’ allowances to buy Motorcycles

In the pursuit of curtailing mobility challenges, 29 councilors from Muzarabani district forfeited their allowances to purchase motorcycles.

The councilors received their motorcycles this week, according to Muzarabani district information officer, Godfrey Chireru.

“Councillors in Muzarabani have been facing a lot of challenges to execute their duties due to transport challenges, some were forced to travel long distances on foot to attend meetings for long hours, therefore, the councilors converted their allowances and made some contributions for the purchase of the motorcycles,” said Chireru.

“This development is very welcome given how the mobility issue was negatively affecting the development agenda in this district. Muzarabani’s road network is not that easily accessible and transport is rarely convenient, hence these motorcycle will go a long way to bridge the challenges that have so far seen progress being drawn back”, he said.
